Welcome

welcomeThis is my new home. Grab something from the ‘fridge, have some snacks, glad you could make it.

First things first, this is not a Warcraft-blog. We may mention WoW, but that’s not the thrust here. This is about everything in my life that’s important: God, family, love, writing, and being a loud-mouthed schnook.

The favicon? That’s the only hold-over from the old place. I’m allowed a little sentimentality, yes?

I’m noticing that I’m having a difficult time switching from We to I. Bear with me; it’ll happen.

There’s not going to be any schedule, no daily-post, no spending hours and hours working on material. I might use this place as a sounding board for my book, though, so be warned. There’s lots to do still, especially links and pictures and knick-knacks. Again, please be patient as I make this place into a home.

So here we go!

No, Dan. How can you be first if you have no… fingers?

    I kid.

    Don’t do that.

Also, I am first. As it should be.

  2. Dan says:

    1st comment. :)
    Glad to be here…

  3. Jeroente says:

Lovely! I’m looking forward to it. Love your writing style, so I’m sure I’ll enjoy it as much as the BRK blog, even if it has nothing to do with WoW.

  4. kunukia says:

Haha! Welcome to your new blog!

  5. Simon says:

I hope you enjoy life as much as you enjoyed wow =D

  6. Curtis says:

Glad to see you’re going to keep on writing. I enjoy your writing style and I must admit I visited brk.net quite a bit since first being introduced to it. Keep up the good work and enjoy the quieter life sans WOW blog.

  7. Liz says:

YAY! The Airman Howell stories were some of my favorites, anyway — glad to know you’ll still be blogging, and even a little exited that you’re expanding your repertoire of topics! :-)

  8. Sakain says:

All I want to know is, where can I buy a mini wooden carved Daniel?

  9. Steve says:

Glad to see you setting up shop in your new writing studio! Write on, man!

  10. Kardinal says:

Dan, I enjoy your style of commentary no matter what you’re commenting on, so I hope to see a lot from you here.

    <3 space, too! Go NASA!

  11. LuAnn says:

Welcome to the realm of personal blogging Daniel. You also know me as Lady Jess:) I’m glad to have you on my personal blog’s blogroll now:)

  12. Portly says:

I am so glad to see you here. This is a great outlet for you. Remember you deserve happiness too :)

  13. Bonewalker says:

Blogadin! I’ll just blog the damn things myself.

  14. Tyler says:

I just finished reading all of the Airman Howell stories on BRK.net so I’m excited that theres a chance for more of them in the future :) I really enjoy your writing style so I’m glad that the end of BRK.net wont be the end of your writing.

  15. Awlbiste says:

Super super glad you are still blogging. What do we call you now? Daniel? Feels weird, but okay.

  16. Rob G says:

Well Damh/BRK/Daniel, I’m more than happy to join you here. Very classy look!

    Cheers

  20. Daniel Thorup says:

    Dear Daniel
Your writing is great and i am sure a lot of the old community will still follow you here. I know i will!!!
Great to know there still is something to read by Daniel Howell out there.

    Best Regards
    Daniel Thorup

  21. EvilBeast says:

Glad to see you blogging on the side still. Awesome!

  22. LJ says:

Woohoo! I quit last month too – glad someone joined me. Things are fantabulous, and I’m so happy I’ll get to read something else for once. Onward and upward!

  23. Brad says:

Glad to see your still writing. No matter the topic I think you will do an outstanding job of it.

As LuAnn (aka Lady Jess) said welcome to the world of personal blogging. I look forward to reading more of your work.

  24. Kuroyume says:

    woot!

    Airman Howell is back!

Looking forward to keep reading you, even if it’s not WoW related…

  25. Zaw says:

    Yay! Welcome back!

  26. Weird Bear says:

I would appreciate some poetic, loving prose about your sister. I hear she’s a gem!

  27. Bryan says:

Glad to hear that you are still going to have a presence on these internwebs. Although I’ll miss all the hunter goodness, I would have missed Dan and his brain more. Go break out the lego sets with the boy and watch a sappy 80′s romantic comedy with the red head. See you around.

  28. TM says:

Good to see you found an outlet. Keep that Brain aired out, they get all stuffy if left to their own devices.

  29. Noah says:

*wipes off shoes and hangs up hat*

Glad to be here. Beer is in the fridge, yes?

Blog is bookmarked! Glad to have some Daniel to read.

  30. Iain says:

Heh, because you’ve mentioned Warcraft, we’ll have another hold-over in the Warcraft Millionaire ad! :D
Was the “we” a thing because you talked for your pet as well? It was a little thing, but different. I liked it.

Despite your warning about the lack of WoW material, I think you’ll still have quite a few readers. I think most of us saw you as a great guy who incidentally had a cat and a gun.

  31. Will says:

I have checked the old sight religiously for years. I have gone from high to low with you and laughed all the same. Your quitting of Wow was almost a non issue to me, though I will miss the hunter enthusiasm. What I will miss the most is your writing in general!

I even checked your old website several time today, just hoping for…something.

When I came back from dinner my first thought was “man I get the quitting WoW but blogging and writing? Why not just start a new blog?” So I checked and Holy Guacamole!!! You did start a new sight!

I did not mention anything on your old blog so I will say so here. Thank you for the time spent on research. Thank you for the time spent informing all of us. Thank you for being a wonderful writer. Thank you for in the end doing what needed to be done. I am sure that you will miss the social part of the WoW community but I am sure that you will find many will follow here.

I wish you well with your family, life and future writings.

    p.s. Conspire with Phil /wink /present

  32. Bob says:

Glad to have you back, Dan.

  33. Tophy says:

    Dan,

Very happy you moved to a new site to keep your blogging going! I know I’ll enjoy anything you have to write because of your style and creativity.

Chalk one more person up for following you over here.

  34. Pike says:

    *tacklehugs BRK*!!

    …oops, I mean Dan.

Gimme some time to get used to it. =)

  35. AG says:

Sweet. You’re still bloggin’ at least. WHESHEW!!

Lookin’ forward to hearin’ about life in general. Almost always more interesting than anything a game could provide.

    ~Alan

  36. Patrick says:

It’s probably getting old by now, but I’m very glad to see that you’re going to keep blogging. Your humor and writing style kept me reading BRK even though I play one of the “lesser classes”. I hope things are going well with the family.

  37. a. says:

is there any info on whether brk.net will stay around? Just so I know whether I should download everything I might want to refer to in the future…

  38. Yay! I’m so glad you are doing this Blogging is an important part of my life and a major outlet for me. I am excited to see what you do with this place. Just so you know there is a huge community of parent bloggers I know this is not a “Daddy’ Blog but you might want to take a look around.
    http://www.5minutesformom.com/
I know what it says but Dad’s are welcome too. :-)

  39. Klinderas says:

I was thinking I’d run out of Dan Brain posts!

Thank whatever I can thank that you’re still blogging Dan. This was a great surprise.

  40. hydra says:

*settles in* Nice new home. It is great to see you still writing.

    ~hydra

  41. Ellijah says:

    Hola Daniel-san,

Welcome to your new home ^^ Mind if I keep kickin’ in every 15 minutes just because I’m so eager to read something of you? ^^

Ow btw, since you’re trying to stop the “we” stuff, haha, I should so too…
For some reason I picked it up >.< My friends got used to it already… (In WoW that is)

    Happy blogging! =]

  42. Kestrel says:

Welcome back…although it’s not like you left so much as moved around the corner.

And if you’re interested in a real support group for the writing, I can put you in touch with some mutual friends (or they may have done so already).

  43. 5318008 says:

    “D.P. Howell”?

That’s a porn star’s name if ever I heard one. Unless “D.P.” doesn’t actually stand for something outrageously filthy.

  44. Luckedout says:

I’m just glad to see you writing again. I always look forward to a new post no matter the subject matter. Keep up the good work!

  45. SuperDave says:

Glad to see Brain got his own page.

But what about the new 370z?

  46. Vantox says:

Infinitely glad to see that you’re still out there and kicking. I’ve always enjoyed your work, the Airman Howell stories being a favorite of mine. Put me in the line to buy your book, ’cause I will, just as soon as I can.

Keep being amazing, I feel I speak for the internet when I say this:
We missed you. Glad to have you back.

  47. thefirsthello says:

Well good to be here looking forward to some good times : )

  48. Les says:

    Hi Daniel,

I’m glad that you’ll be writing. I love your style and the perspective you give things. It doesn’t matter if its WoW, God, family, etc…. if you write it I want to read it.

I’m looking forward to what do next.

  49. Sally says:

    Hi Daniel,
So glad to hear you got a new blog. I’d probably go into withdrawls if I didn’t visit your blog every day (even when there’s nothing new).

    I’m looking forward to reading!
