So whatcha doin’ tonight, Daniel?
Well Brain, I’m watching D-Day marathons on the History Channel.
Ooo! Sounds like a party!
It is! It’s like being at the biggest, baddest, loudest, coolest shin-dig in all of Florida!
It’s that good?
… No. No it’s not. It kinda sucks.
No WoW?
Nope. Cancelled, deleted, fineto.
No movie theater?
On a Saturday night, Brain? Alone? No way.
How about iTunes, Daniel.
Ooh. Now there’s an idea. Let’s check that out.
I have to do all the thinking, don’t I.
You’re under contract, so yes… oh look. Bolt. I’d like to see that.
Click, rent, watch. Life is good.
It could be worse; very true.
(Five minutes into the movie…)
Brain, this isn’t bad, but it’s more of a kids movie than I expected.
Too bad you don’t have a kid to watch it with.
Yeah. That would be… HEY!
No no; I do the thinking, you just said it.
Brain. It’s Saturday night. It’s summer vacation. If I can’t ask my son if he wants to watch Bolt with me after his bedtime now, when can I?
I refuse to get on the wrong side of a Father-Son bonding moment.
Smart. You’re always so smart.
“Hey kid-o, c’mere for a second. Want to watch Bolt with me?”
“YES I DO I WANNA WATCH IT AND CUDDLE ON THE BED AND HUG THE PUPPY AND CAN I HAVE A PILLOW AND I LOVE BOLT I WANT TO SEE IT ‘CAUSE HE’S A PUPPY AND I WANT THE OTHER PILLOW OH CAN I HAVE TWO AND A SNACK AND I WON’T GET CRUMBS ON THE BED AND WHERE’S OUR PUPPY AND THE MOVIE STARTED AND THERE’S BOLT AND I LIKE BOLT AND DADDY CAN I LAY MY HEAD ON YOUR CHEST AND CAN WE WATCH TOGETHER?!”
“Yes.” And I don’t need Brain to help me with that.
My contract clearly stipulates that your decision to use me is independent of my getting paid. I’m here, I get paid, you hear me? P.A.I.D. Oh, this is a nice pillow.

Enjoy your life and your son. Love to read what you write and always brings a smile to my face.
WoW “cancelled, deleted, fineto”? For some reason, I have a hunch that that’s not quite entirely the truth…
It started curious. At the itunes part it was thinking: “Music?”
And after that capslockchildspeakmess, it couldn’t help smiling.
Curtis said what I was going to say, propably better than I would have.
I dunno Ommadon, it might be that he is totally done with WoW, at least for a while. Some people quit for a bit and then come back, some people quit for a bit and go back. And then you have Brian’s natural tendency to exagerate. *Laughs*
Nice, very nice.
Great to see Brain back. I really love that style of writing. And i’m very glad your priority’s are back in order. I will always miss your hunter info on WoW, but your family is and always will be more important.
Hey Daniel, Freklic here, and as another WoW-quitter to another, I must say that the deleted thing is a must, I just logged on the other day for 3 or 4 minutes, logged off and uninstalled it, best move of my life.
Here’s to many more memories with our kids. *
Cheers, mate!
Matt
Why don’t you come back to WOW? I mean, given the (supposed) timeline of the last few months of your life, one can deduce a big part of quitting was to help your marriage… so…
Just saying that if you enjoy something, you should let yourself enjoy it, especially now.
Sounds awesome!
Mmmmm, you can buy movies on the interweb?
Guys, let Daniel decide what he wants to do in regards to WoW. If he wants to quit, let him quit. If he wants to come back later, that is his choice too. Can you imagine if you had hundreds of people hovering over your shoulder with bated breath ready to see if you had quit playing a video game or not? =P You’d feel like you were on the Price is Right with all those hundreds of people calling out different prices. Heck, I feel that way sometimes and I’m not a fraction of the WoW blogger he was.
And Ommadon, look him up on the Armory, he hasn’t been on in a week.
*glances around furtively* my work here is done! *poof*
You sir are a good Dad XD
If your son likes dinosaurs, I can highly recommend the whole “Walking with Dinosaurs” and “Chased by Dinosaurs” series which are instant watch on Netfllix. My boys love those for family movie night. Which in the summer is almost every night. Summertime and the living is easy.
I shouldn’t say this because I totally support what you are trying to do, but I sure do miss BRK and his movies. I have finally gotten to the level where I am ready to raid but without BRK, I’m completely lost. So I just do dailies everyday and it’s starting to feel like doing the same thing over and over, which it is. Nevertheless, hang in there and stay strong.
<3 really.
It was my wish back when you announced your departure that you would eventually come to a balance point where you could enjoy ALL the aspects of your life (and yes, I did include WoW and even blogging in that), but you have to choose what to keep and what to let go. I miss BRK greatly, even though my hunters (yes, I have two) are only babies. But Daniel is more important for now. And whether or not BRK ever returns, YOU are a great person, and I like keeping up with what is happening with you.
((btw, my first hunter was mm/surv from the first go because I’m a traditional archer in real life. My second, though, is purely BM and named her cat for BRK)) Now, off to cleaning, so we can be spic’n'span for the family coming in next week.
Use your heads, people. IF he has quit WoW and he wasn’t just being funny, then he had a reason for it. Why don’t we all just drop it, eh?
Awwwww
<3
@ Kayeri – I have over a dozen hunters and two of them are over level 70. We understand you.
<3
Wow, I wish I could meet a guy like you in real life!!!! Gonna miss BRK!!
IF Daniel wanted us to stop asking about BRK, and WoW, he would say that, as well. He doesn’t respond to comments much, either way. This is his BLOG, not his chat forum… even though that’s what we all use it for.
I love the Kid moment. Last night was the first time I saw my wife in 3 months. We spent some nice time together watching Star Trek.. but the kiddo wasn’t involved this time. I love reading about your kid-time, Daniel. You are luckier than you know.
Love it.
Brain!!!! Good to see you back mate!
I haven’t logged onto WoW in about 2 months and to be honest, I don’t even miss it. It was fantastic for a while, but just like many other things in life, the enjoyment fades. The monotony grows and with that the headaches.
I know you have talked briefly about writing and I’m curious as to how well that’s going. Would be great to get an excerpt or two.
As far as the other changes in your family, I have some brief words that I have found useful to me in these regards
“Follow your heart, minute by minute, day by day. Let the course of the river run as it will, instead of tying yourself up in fears you may never realize.”
Very nice, Daniel. Way to put Brain in his place! Great stories, my friend. Keep writing, and we’ll keep reading.
I approve of this title.
“Wait for it…”
“Wait for it…”

“AAAllliieennnssss!!!!”
“Bam! What did I tell you?”
They were good:
“Whole wheat is NOT the same as whole grain!”
Personally, I’m a Rhino man myself
“He’s awesome! Beyond awesome! He’s Be-awesome!”
Skar and Co.
Medivh
I think the New Yawk pigeons were funnier.
“Redonkulous!”
Love your style of writing. Always brings a smile to my face. Keep on keeping on. Family is way more important than a video game, though I admit I miss the WOW blog. /sadface
Finally tamed Gondria. FTW. Named him BigRedKitty in your honor, and he’s my favorite pet. =)
Good Luck in all your future endeavors. (and remember kids love hugs!)
“No WoW?
Nope. Cancelled, deleted, fineto.”
This makes me sad, you helped me learn allot for when I play my hunter, now I have no one to look too….sad day. Do we need to fly our flags at half mast?
I think Rhino stole the show. My daughter just about fell out of her seat laughing so hard at his lines.
