Now listen, I grew up with the greatest cartoons ever made: Bugs Bunny and Road Runner. What’s the equivalent in today’s cartoon market? Nothing. Phineas and Ferb is pretty darn good, though. The weak link is the pet platypus, which is why P&F doesn’t beat out Bugs; Warner Bros had no weak links in their line up. Not one.
But I love both how the boys aren’t intentionally antagonizing their sister, and how she truly doesn’t hate them either. Great intro to the show, and Ferb’s eyes make me laugh.
“Ferb, I know what we’re doing today.”
There’s nothing in the world that an extra dash of William Shatner won’t improve, and cartoons doesn’t break that rule. Now Mr. Chain Lightning himself isn’t in this cartoon, but his influence is heavy.
These penguins were the runaway show-stealers of the Madagascar kids movie, and Nickelodeon was smart to dump the primary toons and bring these boys to cable.
“RICO! Flashlight!” Seriously, you’ll bust a gut.
I’m not even sure I want my son playing with his Snap Circuits set, it’s so much fun. Do you remember the old Radio Shack electronics kits? Welcome to the 21st century version and there are only two words for it: Awe and Some. I’m taking this thing to work and letting my coworkers get jealous.

All I had to do was bring up the blog and See Phineas and Ferb… and my daughter flipped… she’s soon-to-be eight, and LOVES Phineas and Ferb… and anything else shown on the Disney Channel, actually, up to and including Hannah Montana… ::sigh::
And we are going to Orlando next month… She’s gonna go nuts there… ::chuckle::
I want that circuit set. It looks a blast!
You know Doofensmirtz is the best part of Phineas & Ferb
-John
Why do I now want a circuit set of my own?
It looks so awesome…
brb ebay
I bought that for my son when he was a tiger scout. We did tons of fun stuff at home and scouts with it.
Make a circuit with the little propeller thingie…cut the power and the propeller flies off! It is super fun for the little guy to chase the prop around the room.
Also too bad the kid isn’t older, you missed Anamaniacs that gave Bugs and Co. a run for their money, of course it was Warner Brothers also.
I thought that there were no cartoon these days worth my childs time… Until we saw the Penguins of Madagascar…
HILARIOUS!
I will have to check out the cartoons.
I actually purchased the Snap Circuits set for my Dad last Giftmas so that he could teach his grandchildren about his favorite thing: electronics. Not really sure who’s enjoying it more….
Nothing says you can’t show DVDs of Bugs and company. One of the smartest investments I ever did was the huge multi LASER disk set of old Warner Bros. cartoons (and a laser disk player to see them by). There are some true gems in there.
More up to date, I enjoy Pinky and the Brain: “So what are we going to do tonight?” “What we do every night Pinky. We’re going to take over the world!”. That is gut-bust worthy!
Couldn’t agree more. Kids are a license to enjoy a second childhood
I’ve been making the most of it.
P&F are great. Just the right mix of clever, silly and sweet. Watch it a lot with the kiddos and really like the postive message. Even some of the songs are good — can’t get Candice singing Gitchee Gitchee Goo or Backyard Beach with her brothers out of my head.
Used to like the Madagascar penguins too, but I’d switch to P&F in a second now.
And my son has the same electronic set. Reminds me of the great childhood gift kits I used to get from Radio Shack, but sooo much easier to to set up.
Im not a parent but I still watch alot of cartoons
Never watched that one at the top though, but I watch other cartoons almost daily :3
There’s no reason to stop just bcuse your growin up as far as Im concerned.
You just helped me pick out a present for my nephew and probably won me major cool points with him and my brother-in-law, the electrician. Thanks!
Cartoons I watch with the kiddo (6 y.o. son)
Old Warner Bros (on DVD) he loves Road Runner
Clone Wars (better than the Prequels a lot of the time)
Bakugan (he likes the toys. I don’t always get it)
The local video store has some Johnny quest on VHS for free rental that we pick up from time to time. It’s like the ultimate Boys’ night out (in a father/son way) cartoon: cool gadgets, monsters, adventures flying around the world.
I have that snap circuits set! It took me a few weeks to be able to wrestle it from my dad after I got it (we’re both electrical engineers), and it’s way too much fun.
I know I definitely flaunted it to some people. And I know I definitely told them they’d have to get their own because it was mine, dangit.
Glad to see a 1st grade Boy isn’t to drastically different from a girl. Though I don’t think you have to worry about OMG hanah the slut montana is on.. Even better is asking how there day at school was.
So how was School?
OK
Did you do anything exciting?
NO
What did you do?
Nothing.
Just returned from a venture to WDW with SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) and 2 of 3 kids. Don’t have cable at home so when we rolled across P&F on the hotel TV we enjoyed it greatly. The Boy is now totally addicted to them and only access to online episodes is staving off total withrawl (thank you Disney XD!) So I may have to invest in some P&F DVDs to add to my collection of Anamaniacs and Pinky and Brain.
Pinky, are you thinking what I am thinking?
I think so Brain, but how are we going to get the monkey to wear a tutu?
Skarlarth and Co.

My son is 6, in first grade, loves phineas and ferb as well as the madagascar penguins…only thing I don’t have for him yet is the electronics set..but if I mention it to his grandparents, I guarantee it’ll be waiting for him christmas day lol. He will go nuts over that and I’m sure it’ll provide endless entertainment for both him and me.
heheheheee… My 3rd and 5th graders also love both those shows… though the snap electronics kit I will have to get for my son.
With an 8 year old daughter and 10 year old son, we also get: iCarly, Spongebob, Pokemon (DVDs) and Mythbusters.
Cheers!
Julie
My kids love those shows?
I LOVE those shows!!
Hey Daniel,
Your old site is down. Fix it please. Or is it a 3.2.2 bug? The blogging community needs you.

Sadly, we do not have cable or sattelite so our selection of cartoons is limited. But my boy (also in 1st grade) loved the penguins at our cousin’s house ‘in town’.
As for that snap elecxtronic set, we got it from the awesome “quirky cousin” last yeasr and it was a bit below him, but Dad (me) loved it and this year he’s starting to understand the concept of a circle-curcuit and making the light work. It’s awesome, I agree.
I remember my brothers had the radio shack electronics kit.. tons of little ingestible wires and springs that you’d never get away with these days. *sigh* Definately going to have to check out that snap circuits for my son for Christmas.. yeah.. it’s for HIM.

Im 16 and still love P&F. Great show ^^
I love Phineas and Ferb!
Yep, me; college educated and old. It is a brilliant show and I really like that almost every episode has a different type of song/music in it.
Squirrels in my pants.
Love Handel.
Miniature golf is not golf in miniature.
Disco, pop, folk, reggae, rock and on and on.
Excellent show.
Fun posting, thanks!
And, like any good cartoon, it lampoons popular culture — one hit wonders, world records, etc.
I have to say as a kid going on 15 in 2 weeks i find it incredibly odd That u as a parent were able to nail the only cartoons I ever watch 2/2. both the shows are hilarious and my younger sister and parents love em both
Hi, possibly i’m being a bit off topic here, but I was browsing your site and it looks fine. I’m setting up a blog and trying to make it look neat, but everytime I touch it I mess something up. Did you design the blog yourself? Could someone with little experience do it, and add updates without messing it up? Anyways, good information on here, very solid.
