Thank goodness mine isn't the only one to do that.

My two GSD puppies play tug of war with whatever toy we get them. My mom made the mistake of getting them each a squeaky teddy bear for Christmas this year. They have already beheaded one. It wasn't fun to watch. (OK...maybe it was...)

My 1.3 year old lab/boxer does the same exact thing. Throwing stuffing everywhere, she rolls around on her back gnawing on the toy until the squeaking stops, then she digs into the toy until she removes said squeaker. Thats when I jump in and take it away so she doesn't swallow the thing, then it's over...once the squeaker is out, she's done with it. buh-bye.

I keep these kind of toys on hand for when I need to get something done that I can't have her getting into. And the 5 - 15 minutes it takes her to destroy it is usually enough time for me to get done what needs to get done.

I'll have to look it up back home, but an pet products catalog that came to our house (from the previous owners) has toys designed specifically for squeaker removal: they have specially padded squeakers that you put in a slightly stuffed case with an opening. It's squeaker removal without stuffing shredding!!

@WB: As for the squeakers, they're specifically designed to mimic the sound prey animals make, both for training purposes for hunting dogs and because dogs are still predators in their heart of hearts.

I think my boyfriend's dog feels the same amount of joy everytime I let him sit on my lap (which is almost never).

Yeah, my late dog did the same. In fact, the stuffing was long gone for years, but we still had the squeaker, and sometimes he would pick up the squeaker just to make noise with it.

On a more disturbing note, baby bunnies make the same sound when your pet chews or plays with them. Our dogs found a burrow of new bunnies, and the entire yard squeaked for about 5 minutes as the dogs chewed them and the others ran for cover.

Coincidence that squeakers make the same sound at the same pitch? I doubt it.

When i die, i want to come back as either this dog or my cat. To be a pet in a loving home has to be the best way to live a life.

I have 3x mini Fox-terriers that absolutely *love* stuffed toys like that. Their current record with a new toy is about 2hrs to get the squeaker. Then I spend the next 1/2hr vacuuming up all the stuffing :-/ gotta love 'em tho!

Your puppy does look incredibly happy. I think my son would do the same thing to his sister's stuffed animals if I would let him. He'd probably have the same look of absolute joy on his face while he did it, too.
