A quick glance at the Dropbox site shows something similar. Free for up to 2GB, then plans for 50GB ($9.99/mo) and 100GB ($19.99/mo). Gee, at that price, even MobileMe starts to look attractive. Granted, these sites are offering you a backup of data; but I would definitely not consider either of these options for hosting something large like an entire iTunes or iPhoto library.

Well, I just glanced at the website linked and noticed that it is free, up to 2 GB. After that, plans start at $2.99/mo. This could be nice for sharing ordinary files and some pictures, but my iTunes library alone is much larger than this; to say nothing of my iPhoto library. Seeing as those two would be the main things I’d like to be able to access from anywhere, I don’t see this as a free option. I also refuse to pony up $99/year for Mobile Me.

How fast is it? I have MobileMe and hate the iDisk because it is sooooo slow. I use DropBox all the time. Although it is using your hard drive space, hard drive space is cheap these days and I have the speediness of the local hard drive and the uploading/downloading happens in the background.

Zumodrive and Dropbox aren’t the same. Dropbox uses space on your hard drive, whereas Zumodrive adds space to your hard drive.

I prefer DropBox (dropbox.com) personally. I like that it’s not a separate drive mounted, but a folder on a drive of my choosing. Otherwise they seem relatively similar.
